 Your first experience with the legislative process can, at times, be confusing and frustrating. But it doesn't have to be.
Where do you go to look for a bill? How do I find a bill number? What does "General File" mean? How do I find out when a committee hearing will be held? These and many more questions can be answered by walking your way through the "I'm New Here..." feature of NebraskaLegislature.gov.
There are four stages to this process:
Learn - Learn about the Nebraska Legislature, the legislative process and how representative democracy works for you.
Inform - Use the tools on this site to get informed on the public policy issues facing the Nebraska Legislature.
Research - There are a wide variety of online research tools that can be used to research the bills and issues of interest to you.
Participate - Take an active role as a citizen and participate in Nebraska's legislative process.
Use the links on the left side to move through the process. When you go to another feature of our site, you can always look for the "I'm New Here..." link on the left side of the menu to come back and continue working your way through the process.
